
On Saturday March 8th, the world will once again celebrate International Women’s Day. Since the beginning of the 20th century, women from all over the world have taken to the streets to show their militancy. As in previous years, a range of events and activities take place all over Belgium! Not sure where to go yet? Here is an overview of some possibilities!
Please note: This list is not exhaustive and other events might be added in the days leading up to March 8th.
Brussels Capital Region
- The International Women’s March in Brussels (FR/NL/EN)
Like every year, a large march will pass through the center of Brussels calling for more attention to gender equality. This year, the march will leave at 3pm from Albertina Square just in front of the central station. From 1pm, you can join the feminist market of various gender-oriented organisations that are rallying behind the march. More info via the Facebook page of MMF. - Compagnie de la bête noite (FR)
On the other side of town, in Saint-Gilles, you can attend a series of encounters around feminicide between 5 and 11 March. On March 8th at 1pm, a memorial stone will be inaugurated on Marie Janson Square for all victims of this unacceptable violence. More info and registration can be found on the site of Compagnie de la bête noire. - Women’s rights week – City of Brussels (FR/NL)
The Equal Opportunities Unit of the City of Brussels organizes a Women’s Rights Week around the 8th of March. The program is very diverse: city walks, flash mobs, workshops, conferences, etc. There really is something for everyone. Still in Brussels, Euronext is organizing a bell ceremony and panel discussion on March 7th about closing the gender gap. You can register via the following link. - RoSa reads (NL)
Prefer something on a smaller scale? At RoSa vzw they are organising another edition of their book club on March 8th. This time, they will take on ‘Bad Feminist’ by Roxane Gay. You can register via GoogleForms.
Flanders
- Whispers on Tour – Ghent & Leuven (NL)
This year, Whispers on Tour is landing in two Belgian cities to work around International Women’s Day. On Saturday March 8th, they will organise an inspiring meeting on sexual experience in Leuven. On Sunday March 9th, you can follow two stimulating panel discussions in Ghent. Tickets and info via www.fluisterfestival.be - Collecti.e.f 8 marches – Antwerp (NL)
A women’s demonstration will also be organized in Antwerp. At 2pm, the march starts on De Coninckplein. An hour and a half later, you can join in at Roma for a feminist stall market, children’s entertainment and a DJ set. More info via the Facebook event. - Collecti.e.f 8 maars Ghent (NL)
In Ghent, collecti.e.f 8 March organizes a demonstration and festival. Meet-up from 2pm at Sint-Baafsplein. At 3.30pm the mini festival starts at Poel 7. More info via their socials. - Collecti.e.f 8 maars across Flanders (NL)

Wallonia
- Résistances! 3 jours de rassemblement féministe et culturel à Genappe (FR)
From the 6th to the 8th of March, a collective of various NGOs will organize a multifaceted programme of feminist activities in Genappe. Workshops, film screenings, book reviews, etc. Want to know more? Surf to the event’s Facebook page. - Cycloparade 2025 in Liège (FR)
For the eighth time in a row, the Collectives et Ardentes platform is organizing a cycloparade in Liège. On March 8th, from 11 am on the Esplanade B3 (Place des arts 1), you can enjoy a feminist stall market. The march will also depart from this square at 1pm. More info via cycloparade.be - Femmes de mars – Charleroi (FR)
In Charleroi, Femmes de mars celebrates its tenth anniversary. This year’s programme includes a slogan workshop and banquet. A demonstration starts at 16h30 on the Emile Buisset square, not far from the station. Afterwards, you can enjoy a birthday party. Surf to femmesdemars.be for the full programme.
